    Time begins in 1995 because Hakuna Matata is playing on the radio when Andy is in the car with his family which means The Lion King has already come out in the movies (1994).

    The way that Woody and the toys are together shows that they have all been together for a long time; Mr. Potato Head says that Woody and Andy have been together since Kindergarten.

    The main setting that impacts the rest of the movie is Andy’s birthday party near the beginning of the movie. The audience is introduced to Andy’s room where Andy’s toys are listening for what present he opens to determine if it will be a threat to them.

    Andy gets a Buzz Lightyear high-tech action figure for his birthday. He ignores his old toys including Woody, an old rag tag cowboy, who becomes frustratingly jealous of the new toy.

    Woody accidentally knocks Buzz out Andy’s second story bedroom window and loses his reputation with the other toys. They think Woody killed Buzz.

    Woody reaches for Buzz and traps him in between Andy’s desk and the wall but no other toy knows Buzz is there and no one believes Woody so no one will help him.

    Eventually ending up at Pizza Planet, Woody and Buzz get trapped in a toy machine only for Sid, Andy's older and sadistic brother, finds them. Back at the house, Sid disfigures Andy's toys into monsters. Buzz and Woody decide to work together to save the toys.

    Together, Buzz and Wood, begin to save their toy friends and confront Sid by working together. Sid cannot believe his eyes when the toys turn on him and he runs away screaming.

    To get back to Andy’s room, Buzz and Woody use a toy rocket to reach his open window.

    Buzz and Woody decide to be best friends and that they can both be Andy’s favorite toys.

    Andy can't find Buzz before heading out to Pizza Planet to celebrate the rest of his birthday so he grabs Woody. From the car, Woody sees Buzz hanging on to the bumper. Woody remains jealous, they fight leaving them both stranded on the road.
