The cost of Membership was $5.00. In its early years the Toronto Stock Exchange trading volume was very modest, amounting to two or three transactions daily. Trading hours were limited to daily half-hour sessions and the trading list consisted of 18 securities. -
Legislative Assembly of Ontario
The TSX joins the Ontario Legislature. This happened because there are no official records of this group's transactions, twenty-four brokers came together at the Masonic Hall to create the Toronto Stock Exchange. -
Third Largest In North America
The merged markets adopted the name, Toronto Stock Exchange. The TSX became the international leader in mining.The merging resulted in continual growth of size and strength of the TSX. Yearly trading value exceeded $534 million. -

Black Monday
The TSE 300 falls more than 400 points in the Black Monday global market crash. That same year, trading peaked $100-billion for the first time. -
Eletronic Trading System
The trading floor is closed and an electronic trading system is implemented. In addition, Toronto Stock Exchange became the first exchange in North America to introduce decimal trading to provide a greater number of price levels. -
For-profit Company and Rebranding
A rebranding undertaking adopts the acronym TSX, and the company goes public. The Toronto Stock Exchange completes the acquisition of the Canadian Venture Exchange. The reason they did this was to operate a business which will return a profit to the owners. In addition, the Canadian Venture Exchange were serving the public venture equity market and TSX was serving the senior equity market. -

Trading on the TSX tops $1-trillion on the year. -
Merge
After merging with the Montreal exchange, the integrated enterprise is renamed the TMX Group Inc. This new company will redefine the Canadian capital markets and strengthen its global positioning.
