This series of wars earned a large slave population of Carthaginians and political control over the Mediterranean region for the Romans. The victory in all three of the Punic wars by Rome strengthened its military and navy. -

Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon River
This action by Julius Caesar started the second civil war of the Roman Republic. This civil war weakened the Republic’s government and set up the collapse of the Republic as a whole. -

Octavian is coined with the creation of the Roman Empire. He is said to have created the stability and strength the Roman Republic needed to be turned into an empire. -

The Rule of the Roman Empire is split
When the Roman Empire was split into Eastern and Western halves, the Western side was weakened. This made the fall of the western side of the Empire more inevitable and quicker. -
