In this convention, 55 delegates representing all the States, agreed on:
- A written Constitution
- The separation of powers --> "The Checks and Balances System"
- A federal government
- The right to tax a regulate commerce
- Creation of a Congress with two Houses: The Senate and The House of Representatives
- Equal representation of each State in the Senate
- A slave was counted as three fifths of a person -
Bill of Rights
First 10 amendments of the Constitution were adopted and ratified and are known as "The Bill of Rights" -
