Eventhough the war was mostly fought in Europe, events during WW1 changed the Middle East forever. The repercussions of these events are still felt today. -
Sykes-Picot Agreement
The Sykes-Picot agreement was a secret agreement between the United Kingdom and France. The agreement divided the Middle East into area of British and French control or influence. British took the oil rich countries while france took the more fertile areas. -
Balfour Declaration
The Balfour Declaration was a letter sent to Lord Rothschild from Arthur James Balfour. It declared that the British government support the establishment of a Jewish home in Palestine.

Declaration of Jewish a State
When the British decided to withdraw from Palestine and finish its Mandate of Palestine, the jewish agencys declared the Jewish State of Israel. This sparked the Arab-Israeli war which lasted less than a year with Israel winning. -
Suez Crisis
The Suez Crisis was a diplomatic and military confrontation between Egypt on one side, and Britain, France and Israel on the other. The United States, the Soviet Union and the United Nations also had big roles because they tried forcing Britain, France and Israel to withdraw. -
The Six Day War
On the 5th of June the Israeli airforce lunched an Attack on the Egypt and took the Sinai Desert. After this they took the west bank from Jordan and the Golan Heights form Syria. -

Lebanese Civil War
The Lebanese war was the result of the corrupt and unequal representation in the Government. This anger was shared with many groups living in Lebanon at this time. Syria, Chrisitians, Muslims, PLO, and many other factions from these groups all fought against each other. There was an estimated 150,000 to 230,000 fatalities. -
Camp David Accords
The Camp David Accords were the foundations for the peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. Jimmy Carter the President of USA at the time was a mediator and was there to make sure the terms were fair. -

Iran-Iraq War
The Iran-Iraq war was the result of Iraq attacking Iran over fears that the the Iranian Revolution would cause an uprising of the oppressed Shia community in the south of Iraq. The war resulted in over a million fatalities. -
The Gulf War
Iraq under the Baa'th party led by Sadam Hussain invaded and annexed Kuwait in 3 hours. This resulted in an International response from 34 countries led by the USA. Lasting a little over a year Iraq was defeated badly and suffered greatly as a result.
