  • Giacomo Matteotti Assasinated

    When Matteoti was assasinated Italy changed forever. His death supressed socalists, and eventually led to Italy becoming a Facist State in 1929. This move led to the eventual Axis formed with Nazi Germany.
  • "Pact of Steel"

    Hitler was very interested in Mussolinis ideas, and he signed many treatys with them. But, on this date the pact of steel pledged full military Alliance.

  • Italy Declares War

    A few months after Germany declared war on Allied powers Italy joined. After seeing France was on the verge of collapse, Italy decalred war on them and Britan.
  • War Declared on Greece

    Benito Mussolini wanted to strengthen his government. He sought out gaining land. He tryed to conquer Greece, this eventually led to a miserable and embarassing failure.
  • Britan Conquers Toburuk

    A main port for Italy in Libya. This port was taken over by Britan, a turning point in Italys North African Struggles.
  • Southeast Italy Attacked

    Allied 8th Army lands on SOuthern tip of Italy. They advanced quickly taking cities such as: Gela, Licita, Vitturia, Syracuse, Polazzlo, Augusta, Vizzini, Biscani airfield, and Niscani. All those were captured in the first 3 days.
  • Italy Loses Sicily

    After a little over a month Italy loses a major loss, Sicily.
  • Italian Surrender

    The Italian surrender in World War 2 ended the Italian embarrasment. Benito Mussolinis succesor Pictoro Badogilo and General Eisenhower signed the surrender. This was just the beginning of Italys government problems.
  • Rome Captured

    Badogilo resigns. Invanoe Bonomi forms a new Anti-Facism government.
  • Mussolini Assasinated

    Mussolini after being put out of office, then put back in power by Nazis trys to escape. On his way to Switzerland he is found and killed by his former colleagues in the Facist party. His corpse is then displayed in Milan.
