Intro
Here is my Space Timeline on Top 10 Apollo missions. I put so much hard work into this timeline so I hope you enjoy! -
Apollo 1
On January 27th 1967 NASA ( National Aeronautics and Space Administration) wanted to reach President John.F. Kennedy’s goal to reach the lunar surface. But as soon as they got there the launchpad overheated and caused a fire -
Apollo AS-203
NASA sent a spaceship AS-203 as an Apollo Mission. Their primary goal was to reach the lunar surface {again}. But it crashed, they were able to rescue all on board the rocket, but the mission was cancelled. -
Apollo 7
Again they wanted to reach Kennedy’s goal. They got to the lunar surface but no man went on the moon. They were getting closer totheir goal, so plans were made to keep trying! -
Apollo 9
A year later in March 14th, 1968 NASA wanted to launch a satellite on the moon. This mission was successful but again nobody landed on the moon. -
Apollo 11
NASA announced on July 1st, 1969 they were planning on putting a man on the moon. They all voted and they chose Neil Armstrong. On July 16th, 1969 Neil Armstrong landed on the moon, the whole world was watching this on the news. Fun fact, Neil A backwards is “ALIEN”. -
Apollo 12
On November 6th NASA said they were going to put a whole crew on the moon! The whole world thought it was a crazy idea. On November 20th, they did it! They put the whole space crew of Ken Mattingly, Will Mendosa, and Billie Irwin on the moon. They landed on the moon and did some exploring, this was proof that people can survive going on the moon for extended periods and proved that they could get multiple people there. -
Apollo 16
April 16th, 1971 Ken Mattingly landed on the moon. This was his 2nd solo mission on the moon. -
Apollo 15
This was James Irwin’s first mission as an astronaut. This took place on July 26th 1971. They launched a satellite and shortly James Irwin landed solo on the moon. -
Apollo 17
December 7th, 1971 Ken Mattingly and James Love {another astronaut}. Went together and landed on the moon and launched a satellite. This was the last Apollo Mission. -
Conclusion
Thank you for looking at my Space Timeline. You should have learned about the successes and failures of Apollo Missions. I hope you also learned that NASA proved to the world that space travel was not just science fiction, but it could be real! It was an important lesson to everyone, that imagination and innovation can change life as we know it! Thanks for reading my Space Timeline!
