These recruiting men were willing to sacrifice their lives for the good of Canada. They kept Canada's alliance strong between Great Britain, as well as, brought peace and safety to their citizens.

    In 1914, women were not allowed to enlist in war, but many women still traveled with the army as nurses. These nurses sacrificed their own lives to give medical care to wounded soldiers. These women shared the same dangers as the soldiers during World War I. If this event did not happen, many members of the armed forces would not have been able to fight. These women inspired nurses all over Canada and allowed women to be viewed as brave an strong.

    During World War I, the Canadian government gave the name "Enemy Aliens" to all citizens that were born in enemy countries. Not only did they pin this name on so many people but, they sent them to concentration camps, forcing them to live under dangerous conditions that were life threatening. This is a form of discrimination. These innocent people did nothing wrong and were sent to camps all because of Canada's hatred towards their enemies.

    As the Canadian men went to serve in World War I, the women at home had to take on a great deal of responsibility. Women were obligated to join the workforce in place of their husbands to support the economy and their families. These women had to work in place of their husbands, they had to complete the male household jobs, complete their own chores and take care of their children. This gave women an acceptance and strength in society for all their hard work during the the time of war.

Not only did they succeed in giving women the rights they deserve, but they became major role models in the lives of women today.

    Canada's army in the time of World War I was favoured towards white men. Jeremiah Jones was one of the few Canadian soldiers that had coloured skin and served in World War I. Jeremiah's many heroic deeds, such as, saving his unit form an enemy machine gun nest, created black history. He proved that black men can be strong members in the army and should be accepted as equally as white men.

They began to charge taxes on all citizens, all items, and all the income of businesses. Given the circumstances, this was done to help our army fight for our country and have everything they need to do so.

    In early 1918, there was a decreasing amount of men recruiting to the army because they no longer found it exciting and honourable. To stay committed to our allies, Sir Robert Borden enforced conscription. He forced all men between ages 20 and 45 to serve in the army, even though 90% called for exemptions. The event of conscription divided Canada and drove anger to many Canadian citizens.
