On Sunday morning, the Titanic got a message from the Carpathia. Harold Bride, the wireless operator, brought it to the Captian. Captain Smith didn't do anything about it because he knew that in the middle of April, there were most likely going to be icebergs.
-
At around lunch, there were two more iceberg warnings on that Sunday. Then, as the hours passed, the temperature dropped rapidly and darkness approached as dinner was called.
-
At 7:30, while everybody was either getting ready for bed or still eating, there were three more iceberg warnings. They were 50 miles ahead. Captian Smith couldn't see the warnings because he was in a dinner party. At around 9:00pm, Captain Smith went up to the bridge and seen the iceberg warnings. They couldn't find any icebergs due to the calm water and moonless night.
-
At 11:00 Jack Thayer had gone to get pajamas on and get ready for bed.
-
At this time, Fred Fleet was keeping watch in the crow's nest. He had seen something. When it crawled out of the darkness he had realized he had seen an iceberg right in front of the Titanic.
-
At midnight, Captain Smith ordered to have the lifeboats uncovered because the first five compartments down below were flooded.
-
At 12:30, Captain Smith ordered to load the lifeboats because the ship's compartments were already filled with water.
-
There were over 1,500 left on the sinking ship. All of the lifeboats were taken and not fully loaded.
-
Finally, at dawn, the Carpathia had come to the rescue and saved many people.
