    Erathosthenes

    (276-195 B.C.) Used the sun to measure the size of the round earth. This is important because many people thought the Earth was flat at this time period.

    Caludius Ptolemy

    (A.D. 90-168) Made a model of the solar system. This was important because his solar system included the sun, stars, and other planets revolving around the Earth; "This is flat wrong" (NASA).

    Nicolaus Copernicus

    (1473-1543) Made a solar system where the Earth revolved around the sun. This is important because it changed the way many people viewed the Solar System.
  • 1546

    Tycho Brahe

    (1546-1600) He had the most accurate celestial observations. This is important because he challenged the belief in how the universe was organized.
  • Johannes Keepler

    (1571-1630) Calculated 3 laws of motion that people use today. This is important because scientist also still use these today.
  • Sir Isaac Newton

    (1643-1727) He specialized in gravity and other special forces, during this he created 3 laws describing the motion of forced between objects. This is important because his research created Newton's Laws, which are still used by scientist today.
  • Albert Einstien

    (1879-1955) He suggested that the laws of physics were the same throughout the universe; he also stated that space and time are equal, known as space-time. This is important because it expanded the "mans" view of the universe.
