This was the year when Thomas Jefferson was elected as the United State's 3rd president. He was one of the Founding Fathers and served 2 terms. -
Louisiana Purchase
This was when the US bought the land above the mississippi river (Louisiana) for $14 million. This was a large amount of land, 827,000 miles of land, and was a smart and useful purchase. -
Lewis and Clark Expedition
President Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark on expedition to discover parts west of the Mississippi River (Oregon County). They ended up becoming the first people to cross the western area of the US. -

The War of 1812 was a lengthy war that lasted up until 1815. This was a war between the US and Great Britain and how they had violated the rights of the US, by forcing restriction on trade. -
James Monroe
James Monroe was the 5th president of the United States. He was most famous for writing the Monroe Doctrine, which made history for the US's foreign policy. -

The Missouri Compromise was put in place to balance the number of free states and slave states at the time. -
The Monroe Doctrine
The Monroe Doctrine was a document written by James Monroe, which set place a treaty between Europe and the US, where the US would not get involved in any part of Europe, as long as Europe would stay out of the Western hemisphere's business. -
The Indian Removal Act
The Indian Removal Act was signed by Andrew Jackson, where he granted unsettled land west of Mississippi, in exchange of Indian land in the settled states. -
Texas Independence
Texas declares independence from Mexico in this year and later gets annexed by the United States in 1845. -
The Trail of Tears
As part of Andrew Jackson's Indian Removal Act, the tribe of Cherokee Indians were forced to move to present day of Oklahoma and give up their sacred lands. -
The Mexican-American War
This was a war between the US and Mexico, over issues such as manifest destiny and westward expansion.
