    As an effect of the Tea and Stamp acts this document was written to enforce "no taxation without representation". The grievances were: Not allowing a fair trial, cutting off trade, imposed taxes without consent, and the keeping of standing armies.

    Laws passed by the British Parliament after the Boston Tea Party. The laws were meant to punish the colonist for their defiance from the tea party. The Intolerable Acts were: Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Acts, and Administration Justice Acts.

    Common Sense was published in 1775. It was written to break away from Great Britain and declare independence. Thomas Paine wanted to influence a greater democracy rather than being under control. With this pamphlet he brought many people together to fight and agree for what was important.

    By beginning the Declaration of Independence the United States declared to be free from Great Britain. It was made to explain that the 13 colonies were becoming their own country.
  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion
    In opposition of a debt crisis Shay's Rebellion joined together to attempt to reform the government. It was caused by aggressive tax and debt collection. The rebellion soon came to an end by it being crushed and causing problems with the federal authority.
