  • Canada joined WW1

    (-2) on August 4 1914 Canada joined WW1. This all started when Britain declared war on Germany(Germany was already in war with Russia) for invading the neutral country Belgium. Because Canada was a British dominion, Canada was automatically brought into the war.
  • The battle of the second Ypres

    (-4) On April 22 1915 to May 25 1915, The Battle Of Ypres toke place. It was the first major battle that Canada fought in. The battle of Ypres is remembered for the horrific large scale poison gas attack that the Germans planted.
  • The Somme

    (-1)The somme battle toke place from July 1 to November 18 1916. The battle of Somme did not bring any gains, it is known as an example of senseless slaughter as it left 1.2 million soldiers killed or wounded.
  • Vimy Ridge

    (-3) The Vimy Ridge battle toke place on April 9 to 12 1917. Canada had great success at Vimy Ridge, they had reached the German front lines. however this success did not come without a price. 3,600 Canadian soldiers died and there was over 10,600 Canadian casualties.
  • The Battle Of Passchendaele

    (-5) the battle of Passchendaele toke place from October 26 to November 10 1917. Even though the battle ended in a victory for Canada, the battle of Passchendaele is known as the symbol of the worst horrors of the First World War.
  • 100 days

    (0)Canadas 100 days took place from August 8 to November 11 1918. These were the last hundred days of the war. During these 100 days Canada made a series of attacks on the Germans.
  • Canada Won WW1

    (2) In WW1 Canada was apart of the allies which included other countries such as Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania,Japan and the United States.
  • WW1 ended

    (3)On November 11 1918 after years of horrific fighting and millions of lives lost, the guns fell silent. The German armies were defeated. In the last few months Germany was hanging on by thread, as they started to lack materials and some of the germans allies started to drop out of war
  • Armistice was signed

    Armistice was signed
    On November 11 1918 at 5:00am, Germany and their allies signed the armistice to end the war. the armistice would come into place on the 11th hour of the 11th day, of the 11th month. this day is now know as remembrance day.
  • Roaring 20s

    (1)The twenties were a decade of growth and prosperity in Canada. This is because of the economic prosperity, technological, social and cultural revolutions and growing political responsibility and change in policy that country experienced.
