  • Chinese Exclusion Act (-2)

    Chinese Exclusion Act (-2)
The Chinese Exclusion Act is an example of Non-progression. The Act prohibited Chinese immigrants from entering and living in Canada. This was around the time the great railroad was being built. Since most of the workers were Chinese, this prevented them from settling, and seeing their families, and is a form of Racism. I chose this because it greatly affected the population and the economy of Canada, and discouraged immigrants.
  • The KKK (-2)

    The KKK (-2)
Another form of Racism, was the group called the Koo Klux Klan. They were responsible for hate crimes against Black people, Jews, Latinos, Chinese, and many more. They burned down churches, slaughtered people, and dressed up as white ghosts to show oppression against black people and to make their mark. I put this on the list because the KKK made a significant impact on the lives of Canadians, and were known as social terrorists.
  • WWI starts (-1)

    WWI starts (-1)
As drama begins in the Middle East, war eventually breaks out, spreading through Europe and involving countries such as France, Russia, and United Kingdom. Canada was inevitably dragged along with U.K and forced to fight under their name. This was a huge toll for the development of Canada as they lost many citizens, and took a large amount of money to pay and recruit soldiers. I put this on the list because of how the War affected Canadians economically, and our contribution towards it.
  • Conscription (-1)

    Conscription (-1)
When WWI rolled around, people were dying to go to war (literally). This meant that people were always signing up to war. As time passed, people grew tired of the war, and eventually stopped signing up. This lead to the Government to force people under the ages of 45 to join no matter what. Diminishing the economy and caused riots on a widespread scale. I put this on the list because of how Canadians reacted and dealt with this situation, and how hard it was for business and work environments.
  • Aird Commission and CRBC (0)

    Aird Commission and CRBC (0)
The Aird Commission and CRBC brought joy to many, whereas it was protection from Americanization. I rank this neutrally because of the fact that it benefitted the lives of Canadians nationally, and prevented the U.S from corrupting the minds of Canadians. However, it led to conflict between other radio stations, and extra funding from the government. I put this on the list because it helped the 1920s develop, whilst protecting us from the U.S. Leading to the modern day CBC.
  • Radio and Telephone (+1)

    Radio and Telephone (+1)
Nowadays the Radio and Telephone are just simple forms of technology, and is highly looked over. The radio an telephone was a large step in the development of Canada. Not only did it lead to modern day cell phones, but allowed for easy forms of mass communication, as well as entertainment. The radio was essential for communication during the wars, and overall was a step in the right direction. This is on the list because it provided the world with easy and essential forms of communication.
  • The Battle of Vimy Ridge (+1)

The Battle of Vimy Ridge (+1)
This was known as a national achievement for Canada. Vimy Ridge was a German Outpost with an amazing natural landscape for war. The French and Britain have countlessly tried to take it and failed. The Canadians under the leadership of Arthur Currie used a creeping Barrage technique, took the ridge in hours. This gained recognition from other countries, proving that Canada was a strong nation, and capable in combat. It's here because It showed the power of the Canadians; a strong force in WWI.
  • Agnes Mcphail (+1)

    Agnes Mcphail (+1)
In the 1920's, Women had a significant impact on the development of Canada. Beforehand, Women weren't given the same rights as men, often ridiculed and are only treated as workers and not sentient beings. However a woman named Agnes Mcphail improved the lives of many when she was elected into the house of Commons. Though she was judged, she stood up for divorce, and improved the lives of women. She is here because she advocated for women rights, which was not greatly appreciated back then.
  • WWI Ends (+2)

    WWI Ends (+2)
WIth years worth of fighting, it has been decided that an armistice would be announced, declaring the end of the war. Canada was originally a part of Britain. However, as the battle went on, Canada has been proven to be a strong and resilient nation, capable of accomplishing many things others cannot. This meant that Canada signed the Armistice as its Own Nation. Canada was now globally recognized. Its on the list since the conflict was now over. Countries will slowly rebuild and return home.
  • Discovery of Insulin (+2)

    Discovery of Insulin (+2)
Diabetes before the 1920's meant certain death. It was estimated around 5% of the population had it, and with no viable cure or prevention, diabetes was a large social issue and a cripple to the economy. This all was solved when Insulin was discovered. This completely changed the treatment of diabetes, and saved millions of lives all around the world. This is at the top of the list because of how revolutionary Insulin is. Being able to treat a fatal disease saved lives and future generations.
