    Billy Bishop was a very good war pilot. He became very famous because of his exploits. This shows me that Air War was a very influential part of WW1, so I am ranking this +1.

    White Women Allowed to Vote

    Between the years of 1915-1940, with women were given the privilege to vote, but only white females. Not until later on in the century, were black women, indigenous women, and other women of different races were able to vote. At this time I think all women should have been able to vote and because of this, I am ranking it 0.

    Battle of Ypres

    Germans introduced poison gas as their new weapon. This caused thousands of Canadian soldiers deaths. So even though we lost many lives, this event paved the way to Canada becoming their own Nation, so I'm ranking this a 0.
  • Newfoundland Regiment Evacuated.

    Newfoundlands regiment was evacuated from Gallipoli in an attempt to conquer Turkish Peninsula. Canadians failed to capture Turkish Peninsula resulting deaths on both sides, so I' m ranking this -2.
  • Canadian Tax Returns.

    During WW1, PM Borden needed more funding for the war, so he announced that people had to start paying taxes, it became so bad that people had to pay taxes on the simplest of things such as coffee and tea, because of this I ranked it -1

    Battle of Somme

    During the Battle of Somme, Canada had some of their first Indigenous soldiers fight, for example Francis Pegahmagabow. Francis was a committed, soldier, and a deadly sniper and marksmen. He was dedicated to protect Canada, and because of his brave efforts, he helped Canada win the Battle of Somme. So I am rankin this +2

    Vimy Ridge

    Vimy Ridge was a very monumental battle for Canada. For example, Canada had some of their first black soldiers fight, one black soldier named Jeremiah Jones had many bold and brave efforts so Canada could win Vimy Ridge. Also it was the first fully Canadian victory in any war to that date. Due to this significance I'm rating this +2
  • Conscription

    Canada had enforced Conscription because they needed more soldiers. Many French-Canadians were forced to go to a war that had nothing to do with them. This caused a lot of turmoil between French and English Speaking Canadians, because of this I am ranking it -1
  • Mae Belle Sampson

    Mae Belle Sampson was a very brave nurse who went overseas, and risked her life everyday, trying to help injured soldiers. Unfortunately, Mae Belle died in action on a Hospital Ship. I am ranking this a 0.
  • Valenciennes

    Valenciennes was one of the last battles of The Hundred Days and that's when Canadians captured the town of Valenciennes. There were around 46,000 deaths, so I am ranking this +1
