Agnes was elected to the parliament. Agnes wanted to support various social justice issues by taking a place in the parliament. She was the first woman in the parliament and stayed as it for a long period of time 2
This brought progress to Canada because Agnes inspired many Canadian women to speak out and to break the stereotype of women. She also helped by restoring human rights to many Canadians. -

After the war, Britain decided to stay in Turkey but the Turks attacked them. They sent out a request for Canada to send out men to help them but Prime Minister Mackenzie King declined the request. 1
This event helped Canada makes its own decisions. It made Canada an independent country but abandoning the UK would make us more dependent on our own resources which at the time we didn't possess -
