Espionage Act of 1917
Law making it illegal to interfere with the enemy and give false reports, or interfere with war efforts. If anyone had disobeyed this law they were sent to spend 20 years in prison. Also fines up to $10,000 for those convicted of interfering with military recruitment. -
The Great Depression
The market crash was the deepest economic downturn in the U.S. This had wiped out millions of investors. Also, companies that weren't doing so well had laid off workers. This lasted until 1939. -
The Nuremberg Laws
Law that stripped Jews from citizenship they had. They were taken away a right to become a teacher, lawyer, artists, etc. All Jews had to wear the Star of David to show their religion. -
King is Assassinated
Martin Luther King was murdered. His death had created many riots in over about 100 cities. King was shot with a sniper's bullet straight into the neck. -
War Powers Act
Federal law intending to limit the president's power from committing the United States to a conflict without consent from the U.S. Congress. Forbids armed forces remaining for about more than 60 days.
