The Sugar Act of 1764
The Sugar Act took place in 1764. It was the British ending the smuggling trade in sugar and molasses from the French and Dutch West Indies. The British parliament passed the Stamp Act to help replenish their finances after the costly seven year war with France. -
The Quartering Act
The quartering act took place in 1765. It required the colonies to house British soldiers in barracks provided by the colonies. The amendment required colonial authorities to provide food, drink, quarters, fuel and transportation to British forces stationed. -
The Declaratory Act
The Declaratory act took place in 1766. It was a declaration by the British parliament that accompanied the repeal of the stamp act. It stated that the British parliament taxing authority was the same in America as in Great Britain. -
The Townshend Act
The Townshend Act was in 1767. It was a series of measures, passed by the British parliament. They taxed goods imported to the American colonies, like glass, paint tea, etc. -
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre occurred on March 5, 1770. It began as a street brawl between american colonists and alone British solider. It quickly escalted to a chaotic, bloody slaughter. -
The Tea Act
The Tea Act was in 1773. The British parliament gave the east India company exclusive rights to transport tea to the colonies. It empowered to undercut all of its competitors. -
Proclamiation Line 1763
The Proclamation 1763 was a British produced boundary marked in the Appalachian Mountains at the eastern continental divide. The decreed was on October 7th, 1763. The proclamation line prohibited Anglo-American colonists from settling on lands acquired from the French following the French and Indian war.
