After six weeks of debate in the National Convention, with the Girondins wanting Justice for the king, the Jacobins wanted to execute him. soon the French government had sent its former king to the guillotine. -

to stop the tide of violence in the country the National Essembly thought of the idea that the only way to stop it in the countryside was to renounce feudal privileges. The aristocracy stripped themselves of their feudal rights and privileges.
