The Archduke assassinated
As Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife were driving, a man by the name of Gavrilo Princip came and assassinated point-blank with a Browning-engineered 1910 handgun at the Duke and his wife. Although he was sentenced to 20 years in prison, he died in prison of tuberculosis of the bone. -
Italy going to war with Asutria
To help the triple Entente defeat Germany and her allies. -
Germany Invades Belgium
While trying to stay neutral in the war, Germany wanted to gain an advantage and take down anyone who stood in its way. -
Battle of Tannenberg
This battle was fought in Poland, which was one reason Russia lost to Germany. -
The sinking of the Lusitania
The Germans did not want anyone to sail on open water so they attacked any ship so that there would be no help to the British when the Germans attacked a certain ship they killed many Americans so the Americans joined the war and won the war. -
The battle of verdon
The longest and bloodiest battle of WW1. The battle went from February 21st to December 18th. To destroy the French morale, the Germans used total war which meant that they used everything that they thought of to make sure that their morale was gone. In the 10 months of fighting french had 400,000 casualties. -
The front of Somme
The British attacked from the Somme River area to push back the Germans from Verdun. Both sides of the war had lost many troops—over 1 million casualties on both sides after the 5-month battle. -
Western Front
One of the longest battles that have ever taken place was on the western front in which France and Great Britain tried to keep Verdon out of Germany's hands. -
America Joins the war
After the Lusitania was sunken, America decided to enter the war and show Germany whose boss then saved France from being stomped by the Germans and then pushed the Germans back into their land in which the Americans, the French, and the British won the war. -
The London Air raid.
During the night German zeppelins went over London and dropped bombs on many people that killed or wounded others. -
Russia withdraws from the war
Russia withdrew from the war because of the number of people they had lost and their leader was not that great at leading so they had a revolution and the leader position was open for someone else to take and hopefully have a better sense of what the power is. -
The Treaty of Versaille
The Palace of Versailles is a wonderful place outside of Paris. But it is also where this treaty was signed and made Germany do many things because of the war. The USA, Italy, France, and Great Britain were the four main countries. However because of the Disagreements USA and Italy left and France and Great Britain were the only ones who signed the treaty.
