French and Indian War
The French and Indian War and was between the British and France. The British took over the French Colonies and forts. Even though the Native American were ordered to stay on their land, the British refused to give them supplies. The Native Americans then attacked the British forts. The British gave the Native Americans blankets that had small pox germs and led to a deadly outbreak. The result of this war was Britian issuing the Proclamation Act of 1763. -
Proclamation Act of 1763
Britain won the French and Indian war but they lost lots of money and men. The king ordered that no one could cross the Apalaciaon Mountains and everyone must stay on the East side. Anyone on the West side was required to move to the East. The king ordered hundreds of troops to come to the colonies to make sure Native Americans did not cross the mountains. -
quatering act
Quartering Act ;British goverment made a act saying the American colonies have to provide the British soldiers with any needed accommodations (food blankets ect.) or housing. -
Stanp Act
The Stamp Act was used to raise money to pay for the debt from the French and Indian War and bring in troops from Canada to keep control of the colonies. The Act said the colonists had to pay tax on any piece of paper. This tax was so high that people could not pay it. Colonists would attack stamp collectors, who were enforcing the tax, and burn their homes and threw rocks at them to try to repeal the act.The act was repealed in 1767. -
The Townshend Acts
The Townshend Acts began to be passed by the British in 1767. There were six laws included in these acts. The Revenue Act of 1767, the Indemnity Act, the Commissioners of Customs Act, the Vice Admiralty Court Act, and the New Yourk Restraining Act. They were meant to raise money so the government would stay loyal to Britian and to tax the colonies. People didn't like the tax and they protest.and so the gov. got ride of all the taxes except for tea this eventually led to the Boston massacre. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a street fight that occurred on March 5, 1770, between a "patriot" mob, throwing snowballs, rocks , and sticks, and a squad of British soldiers. Several colonists were killed and this led to a campaign by speech-writers to rouse the anger of the citizens. -
The Tea Act
The Tea Act, passed on May 10, 1773, would launch the final spark to the revolutionary movement in Boston. The act was not intended to raise taxes in the American colonies, and it imposed no new taxes. It was made to help the East India Company which was failing financially and burdened with over 20 million dollars of unsold tea. This tea was to be shipped right to the colonies, and sold at a bargain price.Colonists hated this act soo much they hade the bostan tea party. -
Boston Tea Party
The colonists were forced to buy tea from England and as a revolt they dumped 90,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor. The cost of the tea was 20 million dollars. The government was upset about this so they made the Intolerable Acts. -
First Continental Congress
The twelve colonies and became organized and they wrote a letter to the King George. It explained why the acts were unreasonable and the taxes were too high. The kind got upset and sent more troops to the Colonies so the Colonists boycott until the acts were removed. They know this might lead to war. -
The Intolerable acts
As pay back for the Bostan tea party the goverment closed bostan habor untill all the tea is paid for .Thats 20 millon dollors and now the massachusetts government is under british control .these are the acts that unite the colonies they help eachother and it becomes more like amarica -
Lexington and Concord
The king found out that the Colonists were hiding weapons in Concord so the King sent troops to retrieve the weapons.. (This is the story of Paul Revere). No one knows who shot first, the troops or the Colonists but the Colonists pushed back the British and the British realized the Colonists meant business and this is what led to the American Revolution.
