Great Awakening
The Great Awakening was a religious movement that wanted to change colonial religion. It swept through the colonies in 1730-1740. Johnathan Edwards was a great leader and promoted ideas that may affected the colonial settlers. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris was when British gained advantage. It changed when Britian General James Wolfe captured Quebec. Therefore Britain gained so much land including lands east of the Mississippi River along with Canada. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was when colonists had to play official stamp or seal on paper items. The paper items included legal documents, licenses, newspaper, pamphlets, and playing cards. Protests quickly occured immediatly. Patrick Henry was a great, convincing speaker. -
Boston Massacre
The name Boston Massacre is made up by the colonists beccause of the shooting. The Massacre was between the British and colonists, which was over reacted. Samuel Adams used it as propaganda. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act was when the British tea Complany was to sell tea directly to colonists. -
Boston Tea Party
On December 16, 1773 the colonists disguised themselves as Indians. The colonists sneaked in to the Boston Harbor and dumped 340 chests of tea. Everyone was screaming, "Boston Harbour is a tea pot tonight." The colonists were justm ad because they were taxed on tea. -
Bunker Hill
Bunker Hill was really on Breed's Hill.It was a very bad victory for the British. The Patriots proved they could take on the Redcoats. -
Battle of Long Island
The Battle of Long Island was when the British forced the Continental Army off of Long Island. The Redcoats captured Patriots and supplies. -
Valley Forge
At Valley Forge 12 ,000 men at Valley Forge. Valley Forge is north of Phillidelphia. When people hear Valley Forge comes to mind it brings back suffering and courage. Washington's men suffered such BRUTAL winters. All in all, there was no battle. -
Battle of Yorktown
The Patriots won the Battle of Yorktown. It was smart thinking by George Washington to block all the escape routes on land for the British. Comte de Rochambeau collected 4,000 soldiers and kept strong. General Cornwallis sent the white flag and surrendered. It was the last major war of the Revolutionary War. -
War At Sea
War at Sea was when eight fighting ships were getting ready for February, 1776. It was the Continental Navy with the eight ships. The Continental Navy put a spin on to what they were doing. Instead of fighting the British, they went and attacked their supplies in the Bahamas. -
Battle of Saratoga
The Battle of Saratoga was a great turning point in the Revolutionary War. It was the greatestt victory for the Americans. The Americans created obstacles for the British to go through on the Britishs' way to Canada. The British Army's goal was to push through New York State and cut off the New England colonies from others. It did need exact timing!
