  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This act cut the amount of molasses people could have. It changed from 6 to 3 pence. They wanted to raise money for the queen. They responded with anger, protests were soon everywhere among the Americans. The British government was mad about it too. They refused to follow the rules and listen to them. It was a burden to many.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    There was a major tax increase on all papers and official documents. People who had jobs like a printer or lawyers were struggling and this time. It negatively affected them in many ways. There were intense protests against this act. British government repealed the act. This was said to pay for a portion of the Indian war.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    This put a tax on glass, paint, tea..etc.The colonists organized boycotts to take revenge. They imposed the act. The tax was put out to pay for the expenses of the government. The British were especially not happy about it. They sent military officials over to the city of Boston to see what was up.
  • Tea act

    Tea act
    Allowed the people to ship the tea directly to the colonies. They would then allow people to sell the tea in the U.S. The colonists were very mad, the tea act affected their jobs and businesses. The British imposed policies in the Massachusetts colony. The British were quite furious when they came to know about it.
  • Coercive Acts

    Coercive Acts
    The Coercive Act closed the port of Boston. It changed what the government looked like in Boston. The royal navy had to block the Boston Harbor so nobody could go in or out. There was much colonial resistance. There were meeting held to talk about the act. George Washington attended a few as well. the British Government's responses was harsh, it angered them greatly.
