Sugar Act
The British needed money because they were in debt from the French and Indian war. Colonists were upset because they had to pay a tax that was made without their voice. No taxation without representation. -
Quartering Act
King George III forced colonists to house and feed British soldiers that were there because of the French and Indian war. The colonists and soldiers did not get along very well. -
Stamp Act
Colonists had to pay for anything made with paper. Mail, Deeds, Wills, and even playing cards. This made colonists very mad. -
Townshend Act
This act stated that the British had the same right to tax colonies as they do to tax the British. The Colonist responded with a boycott of English goods.
