  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 stated that nobody could move west of the mountains. The colonists found this unfair because they were told earlier that they could settle in that area.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The sugar act was a tax on the colonists because King George thought that the colonists owed him big time. So, he put a tax on the colonists to pay an extra 3 pence per pound of sugar. The colonists weren't happy. They started to protest. The King of England didn't care.

    This act was that anything made of paper, except books, needed to have a royal stamp. If they didn't have a stamp, the colonist who had the item would be fined greatly. After a lot of protesting, the colonists sent Benjamin Franklin, to
    get the act removed. In great success, the British secretly put a new act together saying that the British could pass any law they wanted to.
