๐Ÿ†‚ (-1) Billy Bishop and the War in the Air
The uprising of trend of air crafts, and pilots like talented Billy Bishop were increasing during WWI. This didnโ€™t make much progress and leaned more on the decline because it did grow our reputation for Canada, however it was so dangerous and wasnโ€™t that impactful. For instance, it made war more violent and risked a lot of peoples lives because of how risky air crafts back then.

    ๐Ÿ†‚ ๐Ÿ…ด (+2) Canada in Great Britain
In 1914, Canadian culture has been influenced by British culture as a result of Canada and the UK's relationship. The majority of Canadians have served in militias and have limited combat experience, which Britain assisted in. This is huge progress, because 'till today Canada's culture plays a massive role in the community.

๐Ÿ†‚ (-2) Leo Le Boutillier, Thomas-Louis Tremblay and French-Canadian Soldiers
They were part of the 1000 French-Canadian soldiers to participate in the 22nd Battalion, which ended in tragedy as they lose and suffer a big defeat. They have made decline on Canadians. This is because they were defeated in the battles due to the tactics (Newfoundland Regiment) they chose, which resulted to horrible consequences. This affected the reputation of Canadians as a stable army force for Britain and other countries, and it costed a lot of peopleโ€™s lives.

๐Ÿ†‚ (+1) Francis Pegahmagabow and First Nations Soldiers
Francis was one of the most honorable First Nations soldiers for being an excellent sniper and scout during the battalions. I believe it had a good progress for Canadians. It was able to gather more diversity for indigenous people from Peggyโ€™s participation. However, almost half of the soldiers died during the battalion, which is why I think it made progress, however still had a declining factor.

๐Ÿ…ฟ๏ธ๐Ÿ…ด (+1) Women on the Home Front
During when there was a drought of men, women were brought to work in roles they before were not allowed. I believe there was progress, because women were able to enter the workforce in which they were restricted from because of men being busy for the military. Furthermore, the sacrifices of women were considered and their political power changed during WWI. But, people of colour were still unable to vote or have the freedom to work during the labour shortage which is why I ranked it at a +1.
  • ๐Ÿ†‚ (+2) War Artists

    ๐Ÿ†‚ (+2) War Artists
War artists were offered to participate by creating pieces of art/media to showcase the incredible story of WWI. It made a lot of progress since the media and art produced is now a staple for educating and learning about WWI. Not only that, it benefited a lot of artists and spread awareness about history to people that were uneducated. It honored a lot of achievements, struggles, and battles that people sacrificed in.

๐Ÿ…ฟ๏ธ๐Ÿ†‚ (-2) Conscription and the Home Front
Due to the Battle of Vimy Ridge, everyone between the ages of 20 and 45 was forced to serve in the military. French Canadians were outraged by this because they believed the government had no business involving them in a conflict in which they had no stake. which caused a large riot and an election boycott. This is a massive decline because of how it impacted the community negatively and how the plan did not end well.
  • ๐Ÿ†‚ (+1) Jerimiah Jones and the Black-Canadian Soldiers

๐Ÿ†‚ (+1) Jerimiah Jones and the Black-Canadian Soldiers
Jeremiah Jones was an honored Black soldier, for volunteering to attack a German gun emplacement. It is clear that Black Canadian soldiers were given a more reputable reputation, especially after Jeremiah Jones efforts on one of the most honored battles in Canada. But, discrimination was still very highlighted in this time period, like being excluded by other soldiers, which is why I say it made progress because this did increase reputation and justice to Black people, but was not fully removed.

๐Ÿ…ฟ๏ธ๐Ÿ†‚ (-2) The End of War
On November 11, 1918, the Great War came to an end, with the US siding with the Allies. During the 1917 Battle of Passchendaele, Canadian forces encountered difficulties that resulted in Canada's Hundred Days. This was a massive decline for Canada since it took away so many lives of innocent people, and was a disastrous event in history. In addition, we were one step close to winning the war.

The role of nursing during WWI was majorly impactful because of all the women's sacrifices to heal and cure so many soldiers. In my perspective, I think they made a lot of progress. From earning a credible reputation for women during this time, to playing an important role during the war, saving a vast number of soldiers. The sacrifices these women endured and did make so much progress towards Canada, from saving lives to bringing justice towards misogyny towards women.
