    The first ever Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet aircraft was first introduced on the 22nd January 1970 with Pan Am. This gave a positive impact to the travel & tourism industry until they fully retired as of 31st January 2023 but Boeing and Airbus are looking to operate newer aircrafts in the foreseeable future.
  • The launch of Ryanair.

    Ryanair was found on the 28th November 1984 and first launched in 1985 before obtaining a license to fly from Dublin to London. This is giving a positive impact on the travel & tourism industry and they have been offering cheap low cost flights since then.
  • The opening of the Channel Tunnel.

    On 6 May 1994, the Queen and France's President Francois Mitterrand formally opened the Channel Tunnel during two elaborate ceremonies in France and Britain. Eurostar passenger operations began in November 1994. It is used for people entering into the EU (European Union) from the UK via car, trains such as Eurostar to and from London St Pancras International and the shuttle carrying vehicles across the tunnel. Giving a positive impact to the travel & tourism industry between the UK and Europe.

    The Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami on Boxing Day, 2004
    A 9.1 - 9.3 magnitude earthquake has struck off the western coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia caused a 30m tsunami that hitted the Indian Ocean coastline areas such as India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia etc. 227,898 people have sadly died in that horrible devastation and it is known as the deadliest natural disaster in the 21st century. This gave a negative impact on the travel & tourism industry until they made some improvements to warn people about tsunami warnings in the future.
  • The Covid-19 Pandemic.

    The Covid-19 Pandemic.
    The Covid-19 Pandemic was first detected in November 2019 from Wuhan, China until the first cases were documented in the UK on the 31st January 2020. Since then many lives have been lost until millions of people had been vaccinated for their immune systems to be protected. This gave a negative impact to the travel & tourism industry during the lockdowns the entire world had until everything got back to normal since the middle of 2022.
