  • The Rehabilitation Act of 1973

    No one can be excluded from participation/benefits in any public place. This helped students with disabilities be able to attend public schools.

  • Developmental Disability Assistance and Bill of Rights Act

    Lets people with disabilities have a right to get treatment that helps them have potential. In schools this helped students achieve their full potential in their education.

  • Education for All Handicapped Children Act

    Required all public schools to give access to education to students with disabilities. Schools had to make a plan with the students' parents (IDEA)

  • Mental Illness Bill of Rights Act

    It requires the states to provide protection to people with psychological disabilities. This gives the schools a requirement to help those students that suffer from a mental illness.

  • Workforce Recruitment Program

    It helped people make connections in the workforce. this helps students with disabilities get motivated, due to the people that went and had motivational speeches for them.

  • Special Education

    Special Olympics Sports was designed for people with disabilities to play the sport they desire. This also helps special education because it gives the students the opportunity to play they sport they want without limitations.

  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act

    An updated version of The Education for All Handicapped Children Act. It authorized a program that funds states so they can offer free education to all children with disabilities. This gave the opportunity to families to give their child an education without having to worry about paying.

  • American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

    President Barack Obama signed the ARRA, it funded $500 million to provide education for students.

  • Disability Employment Initiative

    The U.S. Department of Labor's Office funded to improve education in 9 states.

  • White Cane Safety Day

    It brings awareness to people with a visibility impairment . This affects special education to bring awareness to students that have trouble seeing and that are blind.
