    Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Hiyoshimaru) is born
    Born to be a miltary leader, Hideyoshi was raised in the neighbourhood of Nakamura in the region of Owari as the son of Yaemon, a foot soldier yet a peasant.

    Himeji Castle

    Himeji Castle
    Toyotomi Hideyoshi builds the initial idea of Himeji Castle, which has three floors known as a hirayamajiro.
  • 1582

    Hideyoshi becomes a military leader

    Hideyoshi becomes a military leader
    Hideyoshi proceeds to take Nobunaga’s place and is known as Japan’s military leader, and is formally given the name Toyotomi.
  • Osaka Castle

    Osaka Castle
    Toyotomi builds the massive Osaka castle over the course of three years with the participation of over 100,000 people. During Hideyosho's reign, it was acclaimed as the core of Japanese unity.
  • Christianity Ban

    Hideyoshi issues a decree outlawing all Christian missionaries as well as the christianity itself in Japan.
  • "Sword Hunt"

    Hideyoshi institutes the 'Sword Hunt,' which forbids the possession of weapons. As a result, no one is permitted to carry weapons that may result in casualties. Only similar stricter restrictions were imposed during the next 200 years.
  • Shi-no-ko-sho system

    Hideyoshi modernises to the shi-no-ko-sho system, which has several specific tiers for warriors, farmers, artisians and merchants.

    The Hideyoshi dynasty invades Choson Korea with the intention of capturing the Korean Peninsula and China proper, but is defeated and forced to flee with his army. It ends only after 1596.

  • Second Korea Invasion

    Hideyoshi sends a second army in the hopes of winning this time, but it fails due to China's assistance to Korea throughout the conflict. It ends only after 1598.

    Hideyoshi dies at the age of 62 from natural causes and the uneasy experience of losing to Korea twice..
