    Shortly after the end of WW2, the Cold War began. The Cold War was centered around the United States and the Soviet Union. The purpose was to fight for power and control and influence the whole world on who was the greatest power at the time. Fortunately neither force actually fought each other. The war was a giant stalemate and both lived in fear of each other. Because both super forces controlled massive amounts of Nuclear weapons. Canada later supported the US as it's own country.

    During 1950-1953, South Korea and North Korea were in turmoil over a political debate. The two split into separate territories. South Korea had the support of the US while North Korea had the support of China and the Soviet Union. Then the canadians and the UN came in. The Canadians stood neutral as they attempted to create peace, as they are the peacemakers. But they stood on the backs of the US because of the similar outlooks.     After the 3 years of warfare the War finally comes to an end. Canada had major causalities during this war. But at the 38th parallel the fighting became static and a meeting was called for the countries. Armistice negotiations were discussed in Kaesong. With the support of the UN they persuaded the North Koreans to sign the treaty on July 27 1953. It was necessary to sign the treaty due to the US who wished to continue.
