  • South Carolina Exposition

    This was unanimously written by John C. Calhoun, which reinforced the idea of nullification was the response to the tariff of abominations this also claimed the tariff that for this it is unconstitutional. Lastly, the states have the power and ability to nullify the tariffs. so in summary the doctrine emphasized the state's ability to reject the federal laws on the inside and the constitutionality of their taxing imports without getting goals of raising revenue.
  • Tariff of Abomination of 1828

    This was designed to protect the industries for the Northern and Western products from foreign competition. They did this by putting taxes on foreign goods, they also made the living and housing of the south more expensive. This made all the colonists that were down south very angry because John C. Calhoun decided to make South Carolina and so they called for a protest and exposition.
  • Webster and Hayne debate

    Hayne was the sectionalize. The Union was created by the American people so that it could promote the goods of the whole. Hayne made sure that the people had the ability to nullify federal law. Webster thought of this is that the minority cannot make these kinds of decisions because is made for the federal law to do. they are the ones who make the laws so they need to make sure that the federal people need to to be making the decisions.
  • Tariff of 1832

    The Tariff was passed by Jackson and Congress to reduce the extensive taxes and their rates. So help in this which would bring them to their conflict in the tariff of abominations were help to solved and relieve. The southern was very mad with their economy because they had to deal with and suffer through high prices on goods. But everyone still saw the tariffs as unconstitutional and South Carolina was still unhappy with this new tariff.
  • Jacksons Proclamation against Nullification

    The response to South Carolina's nullification of the tariffs. Jackson went into detail on the nullification process. He stated and told the people that they as a state cannot nullify anyone because they believe something is wrong. There is a reason that we have different types of commands in the government and they help prevent the problems of treason but the people do not have the authority to nullify the federal law because the people believe or think that the way sees it as unconstitutional.
  • Hayne's Counter Proclamation

    Hayne stated that if a state were to be oppressed by the law then the state can go for saying the law is unconstitutional and then void. Haynes kept on forcing the nullification process because this problem was where they were going to send troops to South Carolina. but they started to nullify them because the federal tariffs were the cause for the southerner' disposition about these tax's. This was a compromise between the tariffs of 1828 and 1832.
  • Force Bill

    This Bill was in response to South Carolina for trying to nullify federal laws they did not like. So because of this Jackson had the ability to send troops in to take back over the control by any force necessary to get the law back in order. Which in this case it was the tariffs and the enact of the nullification process in states. They were trying to keep them straight and at the time the only way to do that was by force and it needed to be done with the troops for the military.
  • South Carolina Repeal of Nullification

    The South Carolina's were still mad and anger about the tariffs and their economy taking the brutal hit. but then the South Carolina convention reassemble in the response to the fact the nullification ordinance was being taken away because it was used the wrong way. later on, they called for a repeal. this repeal was for South Carolina nullification on tariffs that were made to watch help and protect the northerners industries to have the ability to nullify these types of tariffs.
