  • Uncle Tom's Cabin

    A novel by Harriet Beecher Stowe. He writes about slavery, and its negative effects. The novel became a big deal because it was a whit women talking about anti-slavery.
  • Bloody Kansas

    It was a word used when Kansas was being settled. Things where being settled out by determining if it was a free or slave state and things got rough,
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act

    This act gave the new states, Kansas and Nebraska the ability to vote whether it would be a free or slave state.
  • Election of 1856

    It was an election with 3 candidates, James Buchanan, John C. Fremont, and Millard Fillmore. James Buchanan won.
  • Dread Scott

    Scott had moved to a free state but was still a salve so he sued his master and then the court decided that African Americans are not citizens, denying his sue.
  • LeCompton Constitution

    this was the second constitution of the Kansas Territory and which was written by pro-slavery people. The constitution said that only men could vote and slavery was permitted.
  • House Divided Speech

    This was the speech Lincoln before he was elected president.
  • Harpers Ferry

    This is when Brown would save slaves and make them free.
  • John Brown

    He was a person who freed slaves to Canada before being caught.
  • Election of 1860

    Lincoln wins the election.
  • Secession

    Lincoln winning cause tension to rise in the south causing for the establishment of the confederacy.
  • Lincoln's First Inaugural Address

    Lincoln gave his address and listed the many things he would do. This is where he took his first oath.
