The cartridge incident
The British released new rifles that had cartridges greased with the fat of cows and pigs. Hindu soldiers didn't use this rifle because cow is a holy animal in their religion and Muslims didn't use the rifle because intake of meat of pigs is forbidden in Islam. this led to huge revolt and later a war. -
