  • Volta devised the electrophorus device

    1775 Volta devised the electrophorus, a device that produced a static electric charge. ( electrophorus means a device for repeatedly generating static electricity by induction.)

  • Volta Discovers Methane

    1777 he studied the chemistry of gases and discovered methane
    witch is a colourless, odourless flammable gas.

  • Volta Became a Proffesor of Physics

    1779 he became professor of physics at University of Pavia

  • Volta Creates the first battery (voltaic pile)

    1800 he developed the so-called voltaic pile, a forerunner of the electric battery

    1815 the Emperor of Austria named him a professor of philosophy at Padova.
