  • President Mckinley

    President Mckinley
    President William Mckinely was inaugurated for the second time on March 4th, 1901. Sadly months later he was assassinated by Leon Czolgosz who believed Mckinely was against the working class and was a corrupt government official who led an even more corrupt government. He died September 14th, 1901 from gangrene.
  • Ford

    Ford
    In 1903 Henry Ford created a new company called the Ford Motor Company. Seeing his success in previous years with his attempts at cars engineering success he created the first Model T in 1908. Also known as a “Tin Lizzie.”

    On July 26, 1908 the Bureau of Investigation (now known as the FBI) was created.

    Alexander Graham Bell
    In 1915, Alexander created the first transcontinental phone call where he communicated with a former associate in San Francisco while he was in New York.

    In 1917, America enters World War I where they declared war on Germany. This occurred when Germany was projected to win after attacking American ships. This is when the US sent resources to their men in order to aide in winning.

    The Influenza Pandemic is the worst pandemic noted in history. It was called the “Spanish Influenza” because at the time the only place actually reporting the outbreak prior to it coming to America was Spain. This is considered the most deadly outbreak as it took almost 50 million people’s lives. It hit in two different stages the 3 day stage which was mild and the stage i. the winter that killed so many.

    The Roarin’ 20s is also commonly known as the “Jazz Age”. This was when there were major social progressions in the United States seen in attire, the economy, and evolution of entertainment. During this time more people lived in the inner cities compared to farmlands, which also helped create a major economic boom from 1920-1929 before the Great Depression struck. This was a decade of change and freeing expression.

    This was a major economic blow that hit the United States shortly after WWI ended. The depression lasted for almost 10 years and was created by a big stock market crash that happened in October on 1929. This created a massive increase in unemployment and homelessness and a massive decrease in factory production.

    Created in 1933 as soon as Theodore Roosevelt was in office, the New Deal was created to help get the American economy back on track. Some of the main things that can be noted about the New Deal was “The First 100 Days” and even the end of Prohibition which was when transportation of liquor was considered illegal. He created programs like the CCC, TVA, WPA, and SEC.

    WWII/Attack on Pearl Harbor
    The United States entered Word War II following when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, but didn’t officially enter until December 11th. This, again, led to the rationalization of food, clothes, transportation, etc. The result of this war would cause high tensions between the USA and Japan.

    The Civil Rights Movement was created as a form of performative activism for African Americans to fight for economic, social, and political equality. The Movement is still a fight in progress but the main fights lasted until 1968.

    Brown v. Board of Education
    In a fight between Oliver Brown and the Board of Education in Topeka, Kansas it was decided nationwide that racial segregation in schools was considered to be unconstitutional. This meant that students of any racial background were allowed to walk the halls amongst each other.

    Neil Armstrong
    Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon and the first American man to make it to outer space. Neil went with a man named Buzz Aldrin where they took the Apollo 11.

    Roe v. Wade
    This was a decision made by the Supreme Court to consent to the rights of women and allow for them to have abortions. This came after the case of Jane Roe v. Henry Wade.
  • Columbine

    Columbine
    On April 20th, there was one of the deadliest mass shootings known to history. Taking place at Columbine High School, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris went on a spree killing over 13 students and staff, then taking their own life. This sparked the decades old debate on gun control.

    The biggest terrorist attack in the United States took place when two planes that were overtaken crash into the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York, a third crashes into the Pentagon, and the fourth crashes in a town in Pennsylvania. Over 3000 people die as a result of these crashes.

    In 2008, one of the most monumental moments happened for the African American community. This happened when Barack Obama won the Presidental Election against John Mccain making him not only the 44th President but also the first African American President in history.

    In 2016 Donald Trump beat Hilary Clinton in what is considered one of the most important elections of the 21st century. This was the markings of the first Republican official back in office since 2004 because there was a Republican controlled Congress as well.

    Black Lives Matter
    Starting after the murder of George Floyd in the summer of 2020 these was large outcry from the general public about the concern for black lives. This created a global protest from not only the African American community but the nation as a whole. Even though the BLM Movement has been around since 2013 it has really taken a major forefront in recent years. In a fight for racial equality.

    Coronavirus
    Coronavirus (COVID, COVID-19) was a global pandemic that started in the early weeks of March and has lasted for over 2 years. COVID was much like a cold or flu on steroids as it produced the same symptoms just on a stronger more intense scale. Many people infected in the early years became very sick and some died. Since this was such a fast-spreading illness and so hard to control, the Globe went on a mandatory quarantine. This also led to major economic issues.
  • Capitol Riot

    Capitol Riot
    On January 6th, 2021, there was a major riot where angry civilians stormed the capitol in a form of protest. This came shortly after the Presidental Election where Joe Biden beat Donald Trump. It is said that those that stormed the Capital were angry Republicans who weren't happy with the election.
