U.S. Entry Into World War I
On April 4th, 1917, the U.S. Senate decided to vote in support of declaring war on Germany. The president at the time, Woodrow Wilson, stated his reasoning for wanting to declare war was because not only did Germany not old their end of the bargain with not honoring their pledge to not suspend unrestricted submarine warfare into the Mediterranean and North Atlantic, but also because Germany attempted to get Mexico to form an alliance against the United States. -
Eighteenth Amendment
The 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is ratified. This amendment prohibited the sale, making, or the transportation of alcohol. -
Black Tuesday
This Tuesday, October 29th, 1969 the stock market crashed. This was when the United States fell into the Great Depression. -

The United States did not decide to enter into World War II until after the Japanese decided to bomb Pearl Harbor, on December 7th, 1941. -
Brown vs. Board of Education
The Supreme Court in the case of Brown vs. Board of Education declares segregation in school as unconstitutional. the Court ruled that "separate but equal" schools for blacks were inherently unequal. -
"I Have a Dream" speech by Martin Luther King Jr
Martin Luther King Jr delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington, DC. He gave this speech during the civil rights march. Very famously know all around the world today. -
President John F. Kennedy gets Assassinated
John F Kennedy was assassinated while here in Texas, specially Dallas. Kennedy was here beginning his campaign trail to hopefully be elected again for a second term. The man who killed Kennedy is named Lee Harvey Oswald. -
The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund
The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, also short for MALDEF; is incorporated into Texas. The first national office being located in San Antonio. MALDEF focused on defending and protecting the rights and votes for minorities. -
First men to land on the moon!
Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, Jr., become the first men to land on the Moon and walk the surface. The spaceship they were on was called the Apollo 11. -
George W. Bush Elected as President
George W. Bush was elected as the 43rd president of the United States. Bush was the Republican candidate, while Al Gore was the Democratic candidate, and Ralph Nader was the Green Party candidate.
