Magna Carta was a document that protected the people from the king. The document was a statement of rights, and trial by jury, things of that nature. -
Petition of Right
A document that presented specific rights for the people that the king could not infringe upon. It was just likme our constitution today. -
English Bill of rights
This was a document that served as a restatement of the power Britian held over the colonies. Only this time they gave them more rights than ever.It was also the inspiration for the U.S bill of rights. -
Albany Plan of Union
This was a plan set up to put the colonies under a more centralized government. They quickly adopted the plan. -
Boston Massacre
This event was a very troubling time in the kingdom. The british soldiers shot 5 colonists. This happened a little while before the boston tea party. -
Boston Tea party
This was a rebellion from the sons of liberty. They were tired of being taxed so high for tea. They decided to dump all of the tea into the harbor. -
First Continental Congress
This is a group of Delegates that met in Carpenter's hall and represented their colony. All but georgia sent delegates. -
Second continental Congress
The Second Continentel Congress was a group of delegates who started meeting when the Revolutionary war began. They met in the Philidelphia hall. -
Declaration of Independence
This was one of the most important documents in our contrie's history. This stated that the colonies were officially free from being under British rule. That was the day we became a Country of our own. -
Articles of Confederation
This Document showed the functions of then national government when the confederates broke free from great britain. This docment served as the foundation for the newly freed system. -
Shays Rebellion
This was a series of Protests by farmers over the taxes placed on the land in the colonies. The protests lasted a year. -
Philadelphia Convenvtion
This was a convention between the Goverenors to discuss the Probelms in America. This is very much similar to the State of the Union address the president gives. -
New Jersey Plan
The Smaller states in the union were afraid they wwere going to be passed over by the new governement. So they created this plan to make sure than someone can speak out for the smaller states when they are put at a disadvantage
