Cole was attacked off the coast of Yemen just shy of a year before the attacks on 9/11. It was driven by 2 terrorists through the harbor before coming along side the Cole and detonating. Looking back after the attacks of 9/11, this event is looked at as the hightening of terrorist activities against the United States.
