    Political Event The British Empire finally gave up against the colonies and recognized independence of the United States of America. The treaty of Paris set boundaries of the United states.
  • The Signing of the U.S. Constitution

    Political Event The Constitution of the United States of America is signed by 38 of 41 delegates present at the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.
  • George Washington Elected

    Political Event George Washington was elected the 1st president and took the oath of office in New York.
  • Establish the National Assembly

    Economic Event The Third Party established the National Assembly, proclaiming the end of absolute monarch and the beginning of an representative government.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    Political Event The Third Party found themselves locked out of the Estates General meeting, and they ended up knocking the door down. They then declared that they would not leave until a new constitution was created.
  • The Storming of Bastille

    Dipolmatic/ Military Events An angry mob stormed into Bastille, a prison in Paris. They were searching for guns and gunpowder. They all ended up having power over the prison.

    Social Event The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was to show the rights of the estates and that the rights of men are universal. The document also guaranteed citizens equal justice, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion.

    Social Event This group prevents the abuse of power and infractions of the rights of man in France. They were also against monarchical government.

    Cultural/Technological Event The Civil Constitution of the Clergy was a law passed that subordinated the Catholic Church of France to the French government.

    Political Event Louis XVI was convicted of conspiracy with foreign powers and sentences to death by guillotine.
  • Robespierre Execution

    Political Event Some members of the National Convention were scared for their life and they ended up turning on Robespierre. They demanded his arrest and execution, thus ending the Reign of Terror.
  • Napoleon Bonaparte Crowning Himself

    Political Event When the Pope was getting ready to crown Napoleon emperor, Napoleon grabbed the crown from the Pope and crowned himself. This symbolized that Napoleon was giving himself power and that nobody else could do so.

    Diplomatic/Military Event Napoleon set up a blockade to prevent all trade and communications between Great Britain and other nations. In anger, Great Britain did the same back, except their blockade was much stronger than Frances. Frances was weak and countries could often get through.

    Economic Event A series of alliances devised by Metternich, to ensure that nations would help one another if any revolutions broke out.

    Congress of Vienna was a series of meeting in Vienna to set up policies to achieve the goal to establish long-lasting peace and stability on the continent after the defeat of Napoleon.

    Social Event The rulers of Europe were very nervous about the legacy of the French Revolution and that the ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity might encourage revolutions elsewhere. So Czar Alexander I, Emperor Francis I of Austria, and King Frederick William III of Prussia signed an agreement called the Holy Alliance. This pledged to base their relations with other nations on Christian principles in order to combat the forces of revolution.
