    • Stone tool making, otherwise known as "knapping", started the first technological revolution.
    • The stone tools caused the hominids to obtain nutrition that provided them with a better diet. This ability to communicate knowledge with nonverbals from generation to generation caused the further development of brains in hominids.
  • Microsoft Assistance

    Microsoft Assistance
    • Microsoft computer assistant.
    • "Clippy", the nickname of the Microsoft assistant, is often remembered as being too helpful.
    • Clippy would often pop up during inconvenient times to try to help the user.
    • Microsoft retired this future after the "Clippy must die!" memes took off and people's levels of hatred for Clippy were acknowledged.
  • Outer Space Robots

    • The Sojourner Rover landed on Mars which made it the first robot to ever land on another planet.
    • The question that arose from this event was why we, humans, were able to create a robot that goes to outer space but we have not developed robots for our house yet.
    • This inspiration led to beginning the work on the first social robot.

    • Pepper is the world’s first social humanoid robot able to recognize faces and basic human emotions.
    • 1,000 sold in the first minute
    • Pepper has 20 degrees of freedom for natural and expressive movements and can speak in 15 different languages.
    • Currently, the Japanese company has paused its production and will only make the robots when needed.

    Emotient
    • Emotient is a company that's software is specializes in emotion detection and sentiment analysis based on facial expressions.
    • In May 2015, Emotient was awarded a patent for its method of gathering and labeling 1,000 facial expressions a day.
    • This technology can use video from regular cameras and analyze the facial expressions of the people in the videos to figure out how people are feeling.
  • Marriage Counselor Robot

    Marriage Counselor Robot
    • Futuristic robots and software that can detect different emotions such as joy, fear, indifference, love, hate, anger, and confusion on patients' faces for the sake of the counselor and patients' benefit.
    • Emotions will be stored as well as the advice that was given to the patients.
    • The robots will not replace the counselor but will help assist the counselor and the patients in identifying the emotions of the patients.
  • Mind Communication

    In the future, there will be the opportunity to receive brain implants which will allow the user to send messages to other people via their minds. Instead of typing out texts to send out to others or talking to people out loud, the users will be able to send messages to anyone anywhere.
