Magna Carta
The Magna Carta was the first document issued to a king. Our government was based upon this. It goes along with the ideal of trial by jury and the idea of fairness and justice for all. -
Jamestown Settled
Jamestown was the first city that was settled into by british colonists. It didnt have a very ideal location because of unclean water that caused disease in the settlers. -
Mayflower Compact
The Mayflower Compact was the first governing document the of Plymoth Colony. It was written by the saints fleeing from religious persacutions by King James of Great Britain. This document was signed by all men. -
Petition of Right
This is a staementof the objectives of the 1628 English legal reform movement that let to the civil war and depositing of Charles I in 1649. It expresses many of the ideas that latter led to the American Revekution.This makes laws have to be approved through parliment. It established parliment and later on congress. -
Englsih Bill of Rights
The English Bill of Rights is a restatement of the Declaration of Rights. It limited the power of the king and set the nights for parliment as well as freedom at spech. -
Albany Plan of Union
This plan was proposed to unify the colonies under one rule for military and defense purpose. Benjamin Franklin aprooved this. -
Stamp Act
THis was a tax imposed on all american colonists by parliment to pay a tax on every pieceof printed paper used. It didnt cost much, but it still offended colonists becasue it was a way for parliment to take the colonists money without their approval. The colonist had to stand up to the British, which was part of the process to eventually claim independence. -
Boston Massacre
The British army killed 5 civilian men and injured 6 others. Officers said they were subjected to verbal threats and objects were thrown.They fired into the crowd without order, instantly killing 3 people and 2 died shortly after. -
Boston Tea Party
This was a political protest by the Sons of Liberty in the British colony of Massachusettes against the tas police of the British government and the East india Company. -
Intolerable Acts
Laws passed by British Parliament in response to the Boston Tea Party. Massachusettes was stripped of their self government and historic rights. This angered the colonists and eventually led to more rebellions starting up to the Revolutionary War. -
FIrst Continental Congress
The first continental congress, which was comprised of delegates from the colonies met in 1774, in reaction to the Coercive Acts, a series of measures imposed by the British governemnt. -
American Revolution Begins
The 13 colonies joined together and broke away From Britain and each established their own government. The British got angry and sent troops over to fight. -

The Second Continental Congress was a convention of delegates from the Thirteen Colonies that met beginning on May 10, 1775, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, soon after warfare in the American Revolutionary War had begun. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson during the American Revolution. This mad ethe 13 colonies in to United States of America. It established a war for seperation of the King. -

Shay's Rebellion
