Invention of the Steam Engine
Thomas Savery created the first steam engine, and Thomas Newcomen refined it. However James Watt is knwon for his refinments. He is the person that evented a more efficient steam engine. -
Triangular Trade
The triangular trade involved Europe, Africa and America. This process was where people would swap goods (or slaves). Europe got: Sugar, Cotton etc. Africa received: guns, horses etc. America would get the slaves. -

Industrial Revolution
The industrial revolution occured in two parts. The first being 1750-1850, the second part was from 1850-1914. Not only did this have a global effect, but it was mainly occuring in England, at the time. To put it simply the people weren't happy with the lifestyle, and they felt that it needed to be developed. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party occured on 16th December in 1773. It was named this name due to the Britsh Americans dumping tea in the Boston Harbor. The Britsh Americans did this to show they didn't support the tax on tea placed by the Britans. -
American Revolution
The American revolution (which had many names) lasted from 1775-1783. It was all about independance. Americas colonies were pushing to seperate from Great Britan. -
European Settlement in Australia
European settlement first occured in Australia in January 1788. There were 11 ships that brought convicts and resources accross. It was mainly used for convicts, of which 800 were brought accross in the first shipment. -
First Fleet
The first fleet settled on the 26h of January 1788. While there were many ships which set out from England to New South Wales, it wasn't until they reached Sydney Cove that they were satisfied. First they stopped at Botany Bay, however were worried about the lack of fresh water. -
French Revolution
The French Revolution was also known as the Revolution of 1789. The revolution concluded in the late 1790s with the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. The revolution was a time majorly where their political system was reformed -
Declaration of the Rights of Man
This event was where it became accepted that all men were equal. They also agreed that all men would have the right to vote among Government issues. -
The Reign of Terror
Louis XVI of France was the cause of The Reign of Terror. From 1774-1791 he ruled as king of France. He was killed in 1793, by guillotine. -
Gold Rush in Australia
The Gold Rush (in Australia) began around 1851. The main Gold Rush was focused on Victoria, however there were locations in which it occured within Australia. 500,000+ people from Australia, Europe, China 'rushed' to collect gold, in order to gain wealth. -
Invention of the Telephone
The first ever telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell, with the help of his assistant Thomas A Watson. The first words spoken were "Watson come here, I want you!" Originally you had to tell the operator who you wanted to speak to, as people didn't have numbers, as we know them today. -
Boer Wars
There were two Boer Wars. The time periods for these were: 1880–1881 and 1899–1902. The wars were about establishing independance. -

The scramble for Africa was where, due to Europes financial situation - they were able to colonzie the continent. If it wasn't for their Social, Military and Finanical evolution this rapid movement may not have happened. -
Federation of Australia
Legislation was passed by British Government on the first of Janurary 1901, to grant Australia independance. Australia was allowed six colonies to govern under their own laws. These colonies were renmaed states. -
First Automobile Produced
Henry Ford was responsible for creating the first Ford Automobile. It was in 1908 he produced the Ford Model T automobile. Credit must go to Karl Benz was creating the first automobile. -

Titanic Construction
The Titanic began construction on the last day of March, in the year 1909. The creation of the Titanic lasted just over two years, and what has become known is that not all safety requirments were met. The cost of creation was $7.5 million - should it have been made today, it would be $400 million. -
Archduke Franz Ferdinand assasinated - Starts WWI
The Archdukes assasination sparked the start of the first world war. While driving with his wife, he managed to avoid a bomb, instead knocking it away. On his way back, his driver became lost and the Archduke and his wife were shot. -

World War I
The start of WWI was due to the assasination of: Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The countries that were together on the war were: England, Italy, Romania, Russia, France, America, Belgium, New Zealand and Australia. Around about 10-18 million soldiers died and close to 20 million were injured. -
Treaty of versailles signed
A legal document signed by different countries known as the Allied nations (+Germany). It outlined what restrictions and bans were placed on Germany (along with a monetery sum). Germany were blamed for causing the war. The countries that signed it (the treaty) were: England. Italy, Romania, Russia, France, America, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand and Germany (athough they were not part of the allied forces).
