    The constitutional Convention was held to better the Articles of Confederation. After a while, everyone decided it would be better to create a whole new government with 3 branches and tried to get it approved.
  • Invention of the cotton gin

    Invention of the cotton gin
    Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin in order to quickly produce cotton to be sold. This was a really great invention however it nearly tripled slave counts in America.
  • Whiskey Rebellion

    Citizens began refusing to pay a tax on liquor to help with debts, however people got mad and started an uprising. George Washington had to send troops to put an end to it.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana Territory from Napolean in France for $27 million. This added around 800,000 square miles of land to the U.S.
  • First Black Catholic Nun Community

    First Black Catholic Nun Community
    Four black women from Haiti established the first community of black, Catholic nuns in Baltimore. They called it the Oblate Sisters of Providence.
