The constitutional Convention was held to better the Articles of Confederation. After a while, everyone decided it would be better to create a whole new government with 3 branches and tried to get it approved. -

Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin in order to quickly produce cotton to be sold. This was a really great invention however it nearly tripled slave counts in America. -

Citizens began refusing to pay a tax on liquor to help with debts, however people got mad and started an uprising. George Washington had to send troops to put an end to it. -

Thomas Jefferson bought the Louisiana Territory from Napolean in France for $27 million. This added around 800,000 square miles of land to the U.S. -
First Black Catholic Nun Community
Four black women from Haiti established the first community of black, Catholic nuns in Baltimore. They called it the Oblate Sisters of Providence.
