Timeline 8/8

  • Stamp Act

    The stamp act was an act imposed by the British that taxed basically any form of document. They ranged typically to Marriage licenses, to even papers that belong to court.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    The proclamation was created to not let any of the colonies take India's lands and created a British-Administration reservation for the Indians.
  • Currency Act

    This act restricted the colonies from being able to print money, it was mainly used so British merchants could be paid fairly.
  • Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act was an act applied by the British to the colonies that forced them to house British soldiers in their homes, even without the consent of the Colonies.
  • Decleration Act

    The Declaration Act was enforced to repeal the Stamp Act and Great Britain explained how they are the same with getting taxed as well.
  • Sugar Act

    The sugar act was created to end the smuggling of Sugar into the colonies, it didn't just apply to sugar but to Molasses as well as to fund Great Britain which was still broke.
  • Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act was created to tax more goods other than documentation. Instead of papers being taxed, they taxed house necessities instead, such as glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was a street battle between British soldiers and the people from the colonies. Five people were killed in total, due to conflict with the colonies just seeing British troops. The people from the colonies did not appreciate the appearance of the British so they decided to harass them causing the Boston Massacre.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest. The political protest was organized by a group called the "liberty sons" and what they did was that they dumped roughly 92,000 pounds of tea to revolt against the British.
  • Intolerable Act

    The intolerable act was a series of 4 different laws passed at the time to punish the Sons of Liberty, but instead, punish the entirety of the Massachusetts colony, for the Boston Tea Party. The four laws that were passed were the Boston Port Act, the Administration of Justice Act, the Massachusets Government Act, the Quartering Act, and the Quebec Act.
  • Quatering Act.

    The difference between the other Quartering Act was that it allowed Royal Governors to choose what soldiers could choose to be housed in whatever house they would like. Which is basically just an updated version of the first Quartering Act.
  • Quebec Act

    The Quebec Act allowed the French, to practice more Religion in North America. Which made the Colonies want more freedom.
