Val d’Isere Resort avalanche kills 42
On February 10th 1970 a avalanche crashes down on a ski resort in Val d’Isere France which killed 42 skiers mainly young skiers which was know to be the worst disaster in French history. -
Flight 351 - The hijacking of the "Yodo-go"
The hijacking of the Yodo-go flight took place on march 31st 1970 by a group named "KYOSANDO SEKIGUNHA" also known as the Red Army Faction of the Communist League, they was armed with swords, pipes and bombs when the hijacked japans flight 351, they took a total of 129 hostages they let hostages go at Fukuoka Airport and some at South Korea's Kimpo Airport and on April 3rd after landing Mirim Airport in North Korea they surrendered their selves to North Korea authorities. -
"The de Havilland Comet 4" wreckage
on July 3rd 1970 a British aircraft called The de Havilland Comet 4 on route from Manchester Airport to Costa Brava crashes in Barcelona killing 122 people. The wreckage was found the next day 3,800ft in the dense trees in the Montseny mountain range. -
LOT Polish Airlines Flight 007 Crash
Flight 007 crashes near Okęcie Airport in Warsaw, Poland, on 14 March 1980,The probable cause of the crash was metal fatigue inside the number 2 engine. on route from New York to Warsaw the plane crashed in the vicinity of Warsaw's airport. The crash occurred 15 seconds before planned landing. All 87 people on board including 10 crew members were killed. -
Alton Towers Resort is opened
On April 4th 1980 Alton Towers Resort finally opens for the first time by Madame Tussauds in Staffordshire, bringing in more tourism in the area as people wanted to visit for the new rides. -
Grand Island, Nebraska Tornados
On June 3rd 1980 multiple tornados strike Grand Island Nebraska killing 5 people and injuring 250 people, causing over $300m in damage. -
Cannon Street Station Train Crash
on January 8th 1991 a train crashes at cannon street station in London killing 2 people and injuring over 500 people were injured, the crash was caused by the driver. -
USAir Flight 1493 collides with a smaller aircraft
on February 1st 1991 a USAir plane collides with a smaller aircraft when it comes to land at LA International Airport. The smaller aircraft was SkyWest Airlines flight 5569 a 19 seater plane it was taxiing onto the runway for take-off when the crash happened, the plane caught fire killing 35 people including the 12 that died on flight 5569. -
Bangladesh tropical cyclone
In Bangladesh on the 29th of April 1991 one of the deadliest tropical cyclones ever recorded occurs killing more than 138,000 people. The storm hit near the Chittagong region, one of the most populated areas in Bangladesh. many people lost their homes with over more than a billion dollars worth of property damage. -

on January 6th Britain experiences an outbreak of the flu putting lots of pressure on the NHS, also effecting tourism. -
Kenya Airways Flight 431 crashes into the Atlantic Ocean
The aircraft crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the Ivory Coast shortly after taking off from Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, killing 169 passengers only 10 passengers survived the crash. -
Tokyo Metro train collision
At around 9 a.m. on 8 March 2000 in Tokyo, the rearmost car of an eight-car TRTA Hibiya Line derailed on a tight curve and slammed into the sixth car of an oncoming train between Ebisu and Nakameguro stations, killing five passengers and injuring 64 -
Haiti earthquake
A catastrophic magnitude 7.0 Mw earthquake struck Haiti at 16:53 local time on Tuesday 12th January 2010. The total damage was around $8.5 billion, killing about 220,000 people. -

Beirut explosion
On August 4th a large amount of ammonium nitrate stored at the Port of Beirut in the capital city of Lebanon exploded, killing more than 218 people and injuring 7000 people, causing $15 billion in property damage. -
Queen Elizabeth II dies
On 8th September the death of Queen Elizabeth II was announced to the public, thousands of tourist flock to London for the queens funeral. -
2022 California wildfires
As of 14 November 2022, a total of 7,329 fires have been recorded, totalling approximately 362,403 acres across the state, causing tons of damage and delaying travels across California, killing 9 people so far. -
