  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 happened right after the French and Indian War. The Proclamation separated the British colonies from the American Indian lands. The Colonists weren't very happy about the Proclamation because they felt like the British just wanted to keep an eye on them, so they ended up rebelling against Britain.
  • Currency Act

    Currency Act
    The currency act was passed by Parliament so that they could take control of the currency used by the colonists. The colonists were once again angry and they began to protest against Great Britain for wanting to take all of their currency.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was passed by Parliament to help the British pay for their war expenses. The Stamp Act taxed the colonists whenever they traded things to other countries which made them angry since they used the samp on things like different documents and playing cards. The Stam Act lead to many boycotts lead by the colonists along with attacking tax collectors.
  • Quartering Act 1765

    Quartering Act 1765
    The Quartering act was passed in order for The colonists to House different British soldiers during the war. The colonist didn't like that they had to give their homes to British soldiers.
  • Sugar act

    Sugar act
    The act was passed because people were smuggling sugar and molasses into other countries. The colonist thought that it restricted what they could and couldn't trade, so they rebelled and started producing the goods themselves.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    The Declaratory Act was made to repeal the Stamp act and no longer have taxes on the colonists. Some colonists celebrated because they thought that there would be no more restrictions but some colonists believed that t would just lead to more Acts.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The Townshend Act was passed by the British Parliament in 1767 and that Act taxed Imported goods as well as tea. The colonist started to make pamphlets that included letters from people that opposed the Townshend Act and they eventually boycotted.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was started by a snowball fight, but as the British soldiers began to arrive this quickly changed and everyone was enraged by all of the restrictions set upon the colonists.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Reason for the Boston Tea Party was Because Britain imposed "Taxation Without Representation". The colonist responded to this by dumping chests of tea into the ocean as well as boy cot and say "No Taxation Without Representation!"
  • Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts)

    Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts)
    The Intolerable Acts, also known as the Coercive Acts was a result of the Boston Massacre. The purpose of the Coercive Acts was to make sure everything went back to normal in Massachusetts and to punish the colonists. The colonist responded by everyone standing up to the British Government as one.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    The purpose of the Quebec act is for people to have religious rights like Catholic Rights. This upset some of the colonists since they only expanded the Catholic right to certain places.
  • Quartering Act 1774

    Quartering Act 1774
    The Quartering Act of 1774 was the same as the Quartering act from 1765 but it now allowed governors to seek homes from colonists. Again the Colonists did not like this because they had already had to let British soldiers use their homes for shelter.
