Anti-Federalist Party
-They also called themselves the Democratic--Republicans
-They got their followers from planters, small farmers, and artisans
-In foreign affairs they sympathized with Revolutionary France -
Democrats Party
-They were successors of Jeffersonian democracy
-They favored localism and freedom from modern institutio0ns such as banks, factories, and reform movements
-They had a commitment to states' rights, a limited government, and an agrarian ideal -
Whig Party
-Formed out of the National Republican Party
-They were nationalist, supported internal improvments, and moral reforms
-They also desired gradual westward expansion in cogruence with economic growth and corsiderization -
Liberty Party
-They stand on the anti-slavery platform
- they had several planks for equal rights and the elimination of racial discrimination in the North
-The party was the political outgrowth of the growing anti-slavery movement -
Republican Party
-They grew out of the Kansas-Nebraska act in 1854
-It became more moderate in its stance on the exclusion of slavery and denounced John Brown's Raid
-The platform endorsed a protective tariff, the Homestead Act, and internal improvments
