    The sugar act was a modified version of the sugar and molasses act that was written in 1733. The sugar act was from England and said that all colonists had to pay a 3 cent tax on sugar. This caused a tax on things that contained sugar like coffee. England did not ask to do this so colonists were upset by the decision.

    Stamp Act
    On March 22nd 1765 the stamp act is passed by the British Parliament. This was a tax on printer paper this ment newspapers, documents, and playing cards were just some of the things taxed. The money from the stamp act was used to help aid the soldiers protecting the American frontier close to the Appalachian Mountains. The cost of the stamp act was not nearly as big as the cost of the sugar act.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston massacre was the killing of five colonists. Tensions were on the rise ever since royal troops came over the the colonies to enforce the townshend acts.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The boston tea party was created by the Sons Of Liberty. It was a protest when they destroyed an entire shipment of tea by throwing it into the harbor. This act of crime later turned into the American Revolution.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable acts were used to punish the colonists for what had happend during the boston tea party. "Intolerable Acts" is just a name the American Patriots gave the set of laws, they are called Coercive Acts in Britain.

    Common Sense was a book written by Thomas Paine. In the book it questions if Britain is really in charge. After reading it the American people began to question Britains authority. The book was the first to openly ask for independence.
  • I Think

    I Think the stamp act was the least important of these events. The stamp did not really help or hurt us as a nation. It seemed shocking at first but many got used to it. I Think Common Sense by Thomas Paine was the most important the book was the first of its kind and was shocking to colonists and the British. It was the first book to ask for independance.
