  • House of Burgesses

    House of Burgesses
    In the Virginia House of Burgesses, George Washington served for 15 years before the American Revolution. During Washington's time as a burgess, he was not outspoken. Committees carried out functions and speakers presided over the house.
  • The Mayflower Compact

    The Mayflower Compact was one of the first documents of Plymouth Colony, it was written by a group who called themselves the "Saints". A group of separatist congregationalists, later refered to as pilgrims of pilgrim fathers. They fired from religious persecution by King James of England.
  • Petition of Right

    The Petition of Right is a major contitutional document, that allows specific liberties that the king is prohibited from infringing.
  • English Bill of Rights

    The English Bill of Rights is an act that documented in england and passed on December 16th, 1689. The Bill creates limits the powers of the king and queen, enhances the democratic election and freedom of speech for the people; As well as many acts in fix of rights for one, it brought a sort of proper treatment to people as individuals.
  • Albany Plan of Union

    The Albany Plan of Union was a proposal to distinguish a unified government; made to establish the Thirteen Colonies. Benjamin Franklin a senior at the time suggested this act at an albany congress on July 10th, 1754 in Albany, New York.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    Stamp Act Congress
    A.K.A the First Congress of the American Colonies. It was a meeting that took place in New York City during October 7th - 25th of 1765. The topic of the meeting discused British taxation, protested against it.
  • First Continental Congress

    It was a meeting that was called in response to "The passage of the Coercive Acts". To Colonial Americans it was also called Intolerable Acts. The First Continental Congress brought together representatives from each of the colonies, except Georgia, to discuss their response to the British "Intolerable Acts."
