Mexico revolts against its colonial authority, Spain. Formed the first Mexican Empire in the new world, and showed how Spain was losing power. -
Opium War
Britain wanted to obtain the lands currently occupied by China, but the Chinese already had everything and anything that Britain could offer them. So then, Britain began shipping opium to China, and once they were all stoned out of their minds, Britain basically came in and just took the land from them. -
Comunist manifesto
The Communist Manifesto was a document stating communism's central intents and beliefs, also why the current system of government was inferior to what it could be. One of the most influential political documents, it predicted how capitalism would inevitabley lead to socialism, and then to communism. It did not show this in any negative context, or intend to be used in cruel ways. -
Matt Perry goes to Japan
His first expidition was soley on the intent of getting a trade trearty with China. On his arrival, he was violently met with Japanese ships, and had to threaten them with absolute destruction in order to pass through. He later returned, and learned many tactics and key information from China, which he was payed for upon his return to America. -
Sepoy Mutiny
Sepoy Indians revolted because of racial discrimination from their British employers. The British East India Company had spread worldwide, and had made the native people less than the British employers. This mutiny damaged the British empire's power. -
Unification of Germany
Political unification to remove Austria from Germany, It split the country into smaller parts, took out some of the parts, and put it back together to form modern Germany, which did not include Austria. -
Berlin Conference
Met to regulate European colonization and trade in Africa. Europe was all trying to get the most control in Africa, and the conference dictated that any country could obtain any African land not already claimed by another European counrty. -
Russo_Japanese War
Russian-Japanese War over Manchuria and Korea. Japan wanted dominance of Korea, and Russia continued to negotiate for shared control. Japan chose to go to war in order to stay the only one in power. Japan won. -
Zulu Uprising
African revolt about Britisgh taxes and rule. THey saw Britain becoming more and more unfir to control them , with unresonable taxes and corrupt control. -
Dr. Sun Yat-Sen takes over China
Chinese revolutionary and politicalleader, he overthrew the Qing Dynasty, last imperial dynasty of China. Valued nationalism, democracy, and people's livelihood.
